Sexy Teen Gwen

To search for inspiration, Stefani and Pharrell had a lengthy discussion in which Stefani said that she had yet to write a song about her intentions for pursuing a solo career. She remarked how the album was missing an "attitude song", and she recalled a derogatory comment that grunge musician Courtney Love had made about her in an interview with Seventeen magazine: "Being famous is just like being in high school. But I'm not interested in being the cheerleader. I'm not interested in being Gwen Stefani. She's the cheerleader, and I'm out in the smoker shed."[4][5] Stefani responded to Love's comments in the March 2005 issue of NME: "Y'know someone one time called me a cheerleader, negatively, and I've never been a cheerleader. So I was, like, 'OK, fuck you. You want me to be a cheerleader? Well, I will be one then. And I'll rule the whole world, just you watch me.'"[6] The song uses the lyric and a melodic interpolation, of "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen, referencing the common usage of the song at sporting events, aimed at losing opponents, with Stefani's antagonistic stance likely aimed at Love.[7]

Stefani has been referred to as a "Pop Princess" by several contemporary music critics.[211][212][213] In 2012, VH1 listed the singer at the number thirteen on their list of "100 Greatest Women in Music".[12] Stefani's work has influenced artists and musicians including Hayley Williams of Paramore,[214] Best Coast,[215] Kim Petras,[216] Teddy Sinclair,[217] Katy Perry,[218] Charli XCX,[219] Kesha,[220] Ava Max,[221] Marina Diamandis,[222] Rita Ora,[223] Keke Palmer,[224] Bebe Rexha,[225] Dua Lipa,[226] the Stunners,[227] Kelly Clarkson,[228] Sky Ferreira,[229] Kirstin Maldonado of Pentatonix,[230] Olivia Rodrigo,[231] and Cover Drive.[232] The latter group, a quartet of Barbados musicians, claimed that both Stefani and No Doubt had helped influence their music, to which the lead singer of the group, Amanda Reifer, said that she would "pass out" if she ever met Stefani.[232]

The fifty contestants in the Miss Teen Dream Pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner. What's a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program - or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan - or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

Two boys look to the water for escape, but for very different reasons. For sixteen-year-old Ryan, the water is where he finds his freedom. Ever since childhood, when he realized that he would never walk like other people, he has loved the water where gravity is no longer his enemy. But he never imagined he would become his small town's hero by saving a schoolmate from drowning. Jack is also attracted to the water, but for him it's the promise of permanent escape. Disappearing altogether seems better than living through one more day of high school where he is dogged by rumors about his sexuality. He's terrified that coming out will alienate him from everyone in town - and crush his adoring mother. Ryan saves Jack's life, but he also keeps his secret. Their bond leads to a grudging friendship, and an unexpected road-trip to Comic Con with Ryan's best friend Cody, the captain of the swim team. The unlikely trio ends up subverting preconceptions and prejudices of their own and of those around them. 041b061a72
