Welcome to the Apache Tomcat 8.x software download page. This page provides download links for obtaining the latest versions of Tomcat 8.x software, as well as links to the archives of older releases.

You must verify the integrity of the downloaded files. We provide OpenPGP signatures for every release file. This signature should be matched against the KEYS file which contains the OpenPGP keys of Tomcat's Release Managers. We also provide SHA-512 checksums for every release file. After you download the file, you should calculate a checksum for your download, and make sure it is the same as ours.

Note: This question was asked before Oracle made the OpenJDK the free version of the Oracle JDK, and the historic answers reflect that. As of 2022 you should not use Java 7 unless you must for projects which cannot run on OpenJDK 8.

This answer used to describe how to install Oracle Java 7. This no longer works since Oracle end-of-lifed Java 7 and put the binary downloads for versions with security patches behind a paywall. Also, OpenJDK has grown up and is a more viable alternative nowadays.

Do you want to run Java programs, do you want to develop Javaprograms, or do you want a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on a server? If you want to run Java programs, but not develop them, download the JRE. If you want todevelop Java applications, download the Java Development Kit, orJDK. The JDK includes the JRE, so you do not have to download bothseparately. If you need the JRE on a server and do not want the ability to run RIAs, download the Java SE Server JRE. This version of the Java SE Server JRE does not include the Java plug-in or Java Web Start support, additional tools might be removed from future versions.

1. The official Oracle JDK is not available for download from the local repository. You have to download the .rpm package from the Java SE Downloads page.

Use the links below to download a binary distribution of Ant fromone of our mirrors. It is good practice toverify the integrityof the distribution files, especially if you are using one of ourmirror sites. In order to do this you must use the signatures fromour main distributiondirectory.

The PGP signatures can be verified using PGP or GPG. Firstdownload the KEYSas well as the asc signature file for the particulardistribution. Make sure you get these files from the main distributiondirectory, rather than from a mirror. Then verify the signaturesusing

The source tarballs are signed with Benjamin Peterson's key (fingerprint: 12EF3DC3 8047 DA38 2D18 A5B9 99CD EA9D A413 5B38). The Windows installer was signedby Martin von Löwis' public key, which has a key id of 7D9DC8D2. The Macinstallers were signed with Ronald Oussoren's key, which has a key id ofE6DF025C. The public keys are located on the download page.

For Linux and MacOS is recomended to use the open-jdk-jre 1.8 or 1.7 included in your system. If they are not available on your system and you can not install them you can download from here.

Regarding Oracle Java SE Support Roadmap,[3] version 19 is the latest one, and versions 17, 11 and 8 are the currently supported long-term support (LTS) versions, where Oracle Customers will receive Oracle Premier Support. Java 8 LTS the last free software public update for commercial use was released by Oracle in March 2022, while Oracle continues to release no-cost public Java 8 updates for development[3] and personal use indefinitely.[4] Java 7 is no longer publicly supported. For Java 11, long-term support will not be provided by Oracle for the public; instead, the broader OpenJDK community, as Eclipse Adoptium or others, is expected to perform the work.[5]

Java 8 is not supported on Windows XP[185] but as of JDK 8 update 25, it can still be installed and run under Windows XP.[186] Previous updates of JDK 8 could be run under XP by downloading archived zip format file and unzipping it for the executable. The last version of Java 8 could run on XP is update 251.But its components compatibility starts to break on unsupported OS in early build during Java 8 updates development.[citation needed]

From October 2014, Java 8 was the default version to download (and then again the download replacing Java 9) from the official website.[187] "Oracle will continue to provide Public Updates and auto updates of Java SE 8, Indefinitely for Personal Users".[4]

Prior to the release of OpenJDK, while Sun's implementation was still proprietary, the GNU Classpath project was created to provide a free and open-source implementation of the Java platform. Since the release of JDK 7, when OpenJDK became the official reference implementation, the original motivation for the GNU Classpath project almost completely disappeared, and its last release was in 2012.

In that case, you can try using a direct URL for the download (all the are actually redirects to the final location). Currently, those redirectspoint to links on , so, you can visit the related updatesite page (such as ) in a browser and see towhere it's being redirected (you may want to try that direct link withhttp or https to see if it makes a difference in your use case).

In vSphere 7.x, the Update Manager plug-in, used for administering vSphere Update Manager, is replaced with the Lifecycle Manager plug-in. Administrative operations for vSphere Update Manager are still available under the Lifecycle Manager plug-in, along with new capabilities for vSphere Lifecycle Manager. The typical way to apply patches to ESXi 7.x hosts is by using the vSphere Lifecycle Manager. For details, see About vSphere Lifecycle Manager and vSphere Lifecycle Manager Baselines and Images. You can also update ESXi hosts without using the Lifecycle Manager plug-in, and use an image profile instead. To do this, you must manually download the patch offline bundle ZIP file from VMware Customer Connect. From the Select a Product drop-down menu, select ESXi (Embedded and Installable) and from the Select a Version drop-down menu, select 7.0. For more information, see the Upgrading Hosts by Using ESXCLI Commands and the VMware ESXi Upgrade guide.

If you have a running VM with virtual disks larger than 1TB and you delete a snapshot of the disks on this VM, the VM might freeze for seconds or even minutes. The VM ultimately recovers but VM workloads might experience outages. The issue occurs because the delete operation triggers snapshot consolidation in the background that causes the delay. The issue is more likely to occur on slower storage, such as NFS.

In earlier releases of vCenter Server you could configure independent proxy settings for vCenter Server and vSphere Update Manager. After an upgrade to vSphere 7.0, vSphere Update Manager service becomes part of the vSphere Lifecycle Manager service. For the vSphere Lifecycle Manager service, the proxy settings are configured from the vCenter Server appliance settings. If you had configured Update Manager to download patch updates from the Internet through a proxy server but the vCenter Server appliance had no proxy setting configuration, after a vCenter Server upgrade to version 7.0, the vSphere Lifecycle Manager fails to connect to the VMware depot and is unable to download patches or updates.

The latest release of TigerVNC can be downloaded from ourGitHub releasepage. Besides the source code we also provide self-contained binariesfor 64-bit and 32-bit Linux, installers for 64-bit and 32-bit Windows anda universal binary for Intel-based Macs. We also try to provide packagesfor various distributions when we easily can.

Java 11 Docker installation instructions are included in "Downloading and running Jenkins in Docker".Alternatively, the jenkins/jenkins:jdk17 Docker image allows you to run the Jenkins controller on Java 17.
