Solitary practitioners find support in locating like-minded individuals that they can make contacts with and connect with. They don’t have the desire to be part of something else, so they get encouragement and wisdom from the people who already are or are in the process of going through what they are going through.
I wrote my first two books on the power of being alone. And this book is the third, about my practice of the solitary witch. Many of the practices for solitaries are used in solitaries’ ceremonies around the world. So, it actually saved me a lot of time, because I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. There are other editions of the ceremonial lighting of the cauldron, but few are written by solitary practitioners. My ceremony is a solo solo ceremony.
The words that I choose, my circle, who I choose to teach, how I teach, and all the pieces of the ceremony. I use these almost all of the time because they work for me. I use my solitary practices in ceremonies. The rituals also include meditations, ceremonies, and celebratory activity that is part of the ceremony. Some solitary practitioners have their ceremonies over the course of a year period. I have my practices spread out over the years so it just feels like I meditate for ten minutes at a time.
I have spent a lot of time researching and reading about how other solitary practitioners form and teach their solitary practices. That’s part of what this book is about. I’ve looked into a lot of nomenclature, definitions, and descriptions, and there are lots of great books on solitary practice.
