Most people have a favorite food. What is yours? Is the food a common one that most other kids would know about, or a really special type? Is it sweet or spicy? In an essay, name your favorite food and describe to your classmates how it looks, smells, and tastes. Tell why you like it so much.

When I grow up I want to do something that involves sports. I have played basketball since I was 5 years old and love being active. I don't know exactly what I want to be when I grow up, but I don't want to be stuck in an office all day. I love to play basketball and I also love to golf. I just started playing baseball this year, and I like it too. When I grow up I would like to play one of these sports as a professional. If I make it in basketball, I would like to be drafted by the Golden State Warriors because they are my favorite team in the NBA. I would like to win a Championship like my favorite player Steph Curry. If I make it as a professional golfer, I would like to win the U.S. Open, The Greenbrier Classic, and The Masters. PGA players make a lot of money and the tournament trophies are huge! If I make it as a MLB player, I would like to play for the Cincinnati Reds because they are my favorite team. I would like to play the position of short stop or pitcher. I know that it is hard to become a professional athlete, but I am willing to work hard and practice a lot. If I don't make it as a professional athlete when I grow up, I want to find something that I enjoy doing and that I don't get tired of. I like math and think that I could find a job that I enjoy where I could use those skills. I will be going into the 4th grade this fall, so I still have plenty of time to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Right now, I dream of being a basketball player!

Although I can find food of all kinds in stores, there is food that stands out as my favorite one. I easily walk past the pizzas, the fluffy pastries, pies, and cream cakes. But when I sit in the restaurant and see the words oxtail stew with creamed spinach and potatoes, I drool immediately.


16. Think of your favorite place. What do you like about this place? What do you do there? How does it look, smell, and feel? Now write an essay describing your favorite place so that your reader will be able to picture it.


19. Each season of the year is beautiful in some way. Think of which season is your favorite: winter, summer, spring or fall. Think of what your town looks like during that season. What does it feel like? Is there a smell or taste to it? Now write an essay describing an outdoor scene during your favorite season of the year.


31. We all eat to stay alive, but everyone has a favorite food. What is your favorite food in the world? What does it look like? How does it smell and taste in your mouth? Describe your favorite food so that your reader can see it and almost taste it as well.


Everyone has a different choice in terms of food. Many people like pizza, and burgers, while some loves dosa, biryani, etc. However, favorite food should not be eaten daily. If we eat our favorite food daily, it will no longer remain our favorite food. We get bore of it. Today, junk food is mostly preferred by children. They are not good for our health and growth. They are prepared quickly but lack nutrients. We should always eat healthy food to remain fit and fine.


At times, this essay is also confusing. In the first paragraph, it feels like the narrative is actually going to be about separating your food (and is somehow going to relate to the older brothers?). It is not entirely clear that this is a metaphor. Also, when the writer references the third submission day and then works backward to explain what a submission day is and that there are multiple throughout the semester, the timeline gets unnecessarily confusing. Reworking the way this paragraph unfolded would have been more compelling and less distracting.


A persuasive essay is written to convince another person to agree with the writer or take action. The prompt will look something like this: What is your least-favorite food at the school cafeteria? Give three compelling reasons why your school should quit serving it. To answer this, your child needs to make sure to have three logical and persuasive reasons for why whatever food they choose is bad.


An expository essay requires your child to explain something, like a how-to guide or providing facts about a topic. This essay prompt will look something like this: Your favorite book was made into a movie. Compare and contrast the film and book versions. To answer this, your child will need to point out the differences and similarities between the two works.

My favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Judith Best. From the first day of class, it was clear she incorporated new ideas and instructional strategies to improve her practice. She was an engaging teacher who provided choice in her lessons, advocated for her students, and cared about us as young people.

To understand how difficult and physically demanding the Corps of Discovery Expedition was, you need only look at the amount of food they consumed. On July 13, 1805, Clark wrote: We eat an emensity of meat; it requires 4 deer, or an elk and a deer, or one buffaloe to supply us plentifully 24 hours. When wild game was plentiful, each man consumed up to 9 pounds of meat in one day. Thats a lot of protein! Meat was vital to their diet; it helped to fill their hungry bellies and gave them the strength required to pull canoes and carry heavy loads. The types of meat that were eaten also served as a reflection of the season, terrain and climate they encountered. Bison and deer were prominent during the crossing of the Great Plains, while salmon and a starchy tuber known as wapato kept them nourished as they entered territory west of the Rocky Mountains. Fish was eaten in abundance, a favorite being the eulachon, or candlefish, which Lewis claimed to be superior to any fish he had ever tasted. At Fort Clatsop, elk was in large supply. It was served boiled, dried and roasted for breakfast, lunch and dinner. During their journey, Lewis, Clark and their fellow travelers extracted salt from seawater by way of evaporation through boiling. Salt was used as a flavor enhancer, but it was also essential in preserving meat; it helped to give their perishable meat supply a longer shelf life.


Assignment: Students write about their opinion of their favorite food. Students begin with a main topic stating what their favorite food is. Students write 3 reasons why that is their favorite food. Students follow up with a conclusion that briefly restates the topic sentence with details.
